Understanding the kaper chart

The kaper chart is essential for Troop 83615. Learn how it helps our troop function smoothly and how you can contribute effectively. This page will guide you through everything you need to know.

What is a kaper chart?

A kaper chart is a duty roster that assigns specific tasks to each member of Troop 83615. It ensures everyone contributes to the smooth running of our activities, from camping trips to meetings. It promotes teamwork, responsibility, and fairness by distributing tasks evenly among the troop members.

Key kaper tasks

For Troop 83615 to function efficiently, certain tasks are crucial. For meetings specifically, these include:

  • Meeting Leader: Coordinate with Adult Leader to prepare for meeting.
  • Guessing Jar: Bring in a jar containing whatever you like that might make a good prize.  Only you will know the number of items in the jar.  Also, bring in at least one prize (it doesn't need to be store-bought -- it could be something you make....)
  • Secretary: Take notes (minutes) during the meeting.
  • Refreshments:  Bring in a snack and maybe something to drink for your troopmates.
  • Community Service:  Coordinate with Adult Leader to research community service opportunities.
  • Fitness Leader:  Select and lead a physical activity that will expend pent-up energy.
  • Flag Ceremony Leader:  Lead meeting attendees in the Pledge of Allegiance, the Girl Scout Promise and the Girl Scout Law.
  • Closing Circle Leader:  Form a friendship circle, pass a hand squeeze or sing a song, then  take turns spinning out of the circle.

Everyone will have a turn at each task.

Why is the kaper chart important?

The kaper chart is more than just a list of responsibilities. It teaches scouts valuable life skills including teamwork, and leadership. By participating, each member learns the importance of contributing to the group and understanding how their actions affect others. It fosters a sense of community and shared responsibility within Troop 83615.
